Jason Derulo made a mumu of himself

We told you that the weekend was popping right? Well Jason Derulo probably wishes that he could forget this weekend but he probably will need a couple of years before he comes to Africa again! This weekend American singer Jason Derulo who was booked to perform at the South African of The Year awards that took place this past Saturday, made a mumu of himself when he asked the South African audience “Y’all speak English right” which sent twitter into a rage! Esp. Black twitter! Now if y’all don’t know what Black Twitter is, it’s a community of young black people who have an opinion on anything and everything! This online movement started in the U.S but now it’s taken South Africa by storm and you don’t want to get on their wrong side! Boy did they go in on Jason Derulo!

@AfricanRapQueen Nadia Nakai tweeted “well… I found it rude and

unnecessary as you could clearly see we were all having dinner…”

South African comedian @TatsNkonzo tweeted “Jason Derulo, at the South African of the Year Awards, asked the audience if they speak English. @BarackObama, please come fetch him” nwabisa @NwabsWell

“So Jason Derulo asked us if we speak English?Lmao! Thats what we get when we leave our own talent & chase internationals. Andinayo ne-worry!”

Lerato Mlambo ‏@Leighratoh @jasonderulo wasn’t the whole award ceremony in English? Don’t bore us please.”

#RockTheCity24Oct ‏@i_Delvis  “@jasonderulo we only respond to dope music. And we actually wanted Chris Brown.”

Jason did not however apologize but said that the statement was meant as a “figure of speech” directed at a table that was not standing up to participate during his performance.

Whew! Well we guess he won’t be coming to South Africa anytime soon…but what is it to him, he’s smiling all the way to the bank! Hopefully he’ll use the money to buy himself a brain!
